Women & Children First: Clean Water Sensitisation
- 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
- Mukuni village
Clean water is life. Without it, families are exposed to dangerous diseases such as diarrhea, cholera, and dysentery — illnesses that especially affect women and children. In Mukuni Village, where many households depend on boreholes, rivers, and wells, access to safe drinking water is more than just a health issue — it is a matter of survival.
We are hosting a special clean water sensitisation session dedicated to women and children, recognizing the central role they play in safeguarding the health of our community.
Why Women and Children?
Women are often the main caregivers in families. They are responsible for cooking, fetching water, washing clothes, and looking after children’s health. Because of this, women are on the frontline when it comes to preventing waterborne diseases. Unfortunately, it is also children — especially those under five years old — who suffer the most when water is not safe.
By empowering women and educating children, we are equipping the whole household with knowledge and practices that can break the cycle of disease.
What Will Be Covered?
During this session, participants will learn:
-
Safe water practices at home — boiling, filtering, and using chlorine tablets.
-
How to store water safely in clean, covered containers to prevent contamination.
-
The importance of handwashing with soap or ash, especially before cooking and after using the toilet.
-
Simple ways children can help — such as reminding family members to wash hands or covering water containers.
A Family-Friendly Event
This sensitisation is designed not just as a lecture, but as an interactive and family-friendly gathering.
-
Mothers will receive practical demonstrations on water purification.
-
Children will take part in games and songs that make learning about hygiene fun and memorable.
-
Local health workers will answer questions and share stories from the community.
Our Goal
The goal is simple: a healthier Mukuni Village where no child suffers from preventable waterborne illnesses. By starting with mothers and children, we are planting seeds of change that will grow across households and generations.
Call to Action
We invite all mothers, caregivers, and children to attend this important event. Bring your neighbors, bring your families, and let’s come together for the health of our community.
